OPERATIONS TEAM

Safety Team Member: Help maintain safety standards and respond in emergency situations. For someone who is attentive, calm in emergencies, and wants to help ensure a safe environment for our church community. Volunteers typically serve during one Sunday service per month.

Garden Team Member: Help care for and maintain the gardens on the Truro campus. For someone who loves to get in the weeds and wants to learn more about native plants and gardening. Volunteers serve as they are able, with flexible opportunities throughout the year.

Diocese of the Mid-Atlantic Synod Volunteer: Help us host clergy & representatives. Many hands are needed for this one-time, multi-day event. This is a great role for someone who enjoys hospitality, event logistics, or helping large gatherings run smoothly.

HOSPITALITY TEAM

Sunday Hospitality Team: Help prepare food and drinks for or after church fellowship time. For a friendly person who enjoys meeting and feeding people. Volunteers serve before and after church on Sundays when they are available.

Tuesday Community Dinner Team: Prepare & clean up from our monthly community dinners. For friendly people who enjoy food prep, working as a team, and socializing! Volunteers sign up for 2-hour slots once a month.

Special Events Hospitality Team: Help before, during, and after special events at Truro. For someone with occasional availability to help with decor, food service, greeting, and directing guests to Truro’s campus. Volunteers serve as available when special events happen.

Special Event Flower Arranging: Help arrange flowers and plants for special events. For someone who enjoys working with plants or has an eye for beauty. Volunteers serve when available on the days leading up to special events.

FAMILY MINISTRY

Event Volunteer: Help with special events and gatherings. For anyone who enjoys creating welcoming experiences for families and children. Time commitment varies depending on the event.

WORSHIP TEAM

Projectionist: Run slides during worship services. For someone who enjoys helping things run smoothly behind the scenes. Volunteers typically serve once every 1–2 months.

Choir: Sing with the choir in worship services. Do you love singing and worshiping through music with others? Choir members rehearse on Thursday evenings during the term and sing in worship about two Sundays each month!

Worship Team: Sing or play an instrument as part of the worship team (audition required). Are you an experienced musician who feels called to lead others in worship? Scheduling varies depending on the team rotation and service needs.

Live Streamer: Operate cameras to broadcast services live. For someone interested in video, media production, or extending our worship to those joining online. Volunteers typically serve once every one to two months.

SUNDAY SERVICE MINISTERS

Lector: Provide Scripture readings during Sunday morning services. Do you enjoy reading Scripture aloud? Use this gift to help lead the congregation in worship! Lectors typically serve about once per quarter.

Usher: Help people find seats, assist with the offering, and guide communion dismissals. For someone who enjoys welcoming people and helping create an orderly and hospitable worship environment. Ushers typically serve one to two times per month.

Altar Guild: Prepare and maintain the sanctuary and chapel, including the holy table and sacred vessels used during worship and Holy Communion. For someone who appreciates the beauty and reverence of worship, enjoys learning about the history and traditions of our church, and enjoys careful, behind-the-scenes service. Volunteers typically serve one to two times per month.

Acolyte: Assist the clergy in leading the congregation in public worship, particularly in processions, altar assistance, & gospel processions. A wonderful opportunity for young people (6th grade and up) who want to help lead the congregation in our “worship without words.” Volunteers serve in teams, generally once a month.

TRURO INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS & SERVICES

Classroom Volunteer (In-Person): Serve as an assistant or lead teacher for English classes. For anyone who speaks English and enjoys cross-cultural friendships. Classroom assistants typically serve once or twice weekly on Tuesdays or Thursdays from 9:15–11:30 AM during the school year.

Classroom Volunteer (Online): Serve as an assistant or lead teacher for online English classes. For someone comfortable with virtual learning who enjoys helping others practice English. Volunteers typically serve once or twice weekly on Mondays or Wednesdays from 6:30–8:45 PM.

Bond over Bites: Help prepare lunches for TIPS participants. For someone who enjoys hospitality and serving others through practical care. Volunteers typically serve Tuesdays or Thursdays from 9:45 AM–12:30 PM, either weekly or as a one-time opportunity.

Summer One-to-One Conversation Partner: Meet individually with a TIPS participant for English conversation practice. For someone who enjoys building friendships and encouraging others as they practice speaking English. Volunteers typically meet about six times over a three-month period.

Summer Conversation Club Volunteer: Help facilitate conversation during the summer program. For someone who enjoys meeting people from different cultures and helping them gain confidence in speaking English. Volunteers typically meet once a week during the summer.

KIDS MINISTRY

Small Group Leader (K–4): Lead elementary-age children during Sunday morning services. For someone who loves working with kids and helping them grow in their understanding of God’s love. Leaders serve on Sundays from 9:15–11:00 AM.

Teen Helper: Assist a class leader teaching children K–4. For teens who enjoy helping children and want to grow as leaders. Helpers serve from 9:15–11:00 AM on Sundays.

Substitute Leader: Step in to lead or assist when regular small group leaders are unavailable. For someone with a flexible schedule who enjoys helping wherever needed. Volunteers serve on an as-needed basis.

Volunteer Team: Help prepare materials for small groups and assist with setup and cleanup. For someone who enjoys supporting ministry behind the scenes. Volunteers serve as needed depending on events and programming.

Check-In Helper: Welcome families and help check children in as they arrive at church. For someone who enjoys greeting people and helping families feel comfortable and cared for. Volunteers serve as needed during Sunday morning programs.

Club 56 Leader: Lead students in grades 5–6. For someone who enjoys building relationships with pre-teens and helping them grow in their faith during this important stage of life. Leaders typically serve Sunday mornings.

YOUTH MINISTRY

Youth Small Group Leader: Lead a small group of students on Sunday evenings. For adults who enjoy mentoring teenagers and walking with them as they grow in their faith. Leaders typically serve weekly during the school year, 4:30–7:30 PM.

Special Events Volunteer: Help with retreats and events including Breakaway (High School in February, Middle School in March), the Fall Retreat (October), VBS, and other occasional events. Time commitment varies depending on the event.

Bible Breakfast Volunteer: Make Bible Breakfast a time of deep spiritual growth for our youth. For someone who enjoys encouraging students and helping create a welcoming environment for Bible study. Volunteers typically serve weekly.

Pre-K Volunteer: Help lead a class of preschool children (ages 3–5). For someone who loves young children and enjoys creating a warm, nurturing environment for them to learn about God. Volunteers serve on Sundays from 9:30–11:30 AM.
