Dear Truro family,
“Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest!” (John 4:35)
Jesus says those words to his distracted disciples who are fixated on inconsequential matters and are missing the fact that a crowd of white-robed Samaritans are on their way, hungry to know more about Jesus. So, he exhorts them: “Look up!”
Jesus still says those words to us today. So, two points for us:
1. Truro is a church located in Fairfax City. We’ve talked in recent weeks about our immediate focuses on local outreach through the ministries of TIPS and TPK. Those fields are certainly “white” for harvest. But we’re also praying for more boldness, sensitivity, and vision for opportunities to point people to Jesus here locally. See below under “Get Involved” for one such (super simple) opportunity on July 4th.
2. Truro is also a church scattered throughout different parts of Northern Virginia: in neighborhoods, schools, and workplaces during the week. In what directions (even next door to you!) is Jesus telling you to “lift up your eyes”?
That’s where our focus on outreach starts first!
