Dear Truro Family,
Pierre Teilhard De Chardin says: “Above all, trust in the slow work of God.” However, we are not a waiting culture. We are a point and click, I need it now, not tomorrow culture. Frustration and anxiety are often companions as we wait. They urge us to act or work, do something! However, over and over again in scripture we are encouraged to wait for the Lord. Scripture tells us that as we wait, we receive strength: “they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.” Isaiah 40:31
Have your ever noticed that God never seems to be in a hurry? God’s promise of the Messiah, Jesus, was made thousands of years before Jesus was born. We have waited 2000 years already for Jesus’ return. God doesn’t seem to be concerned that we are waiting. What shall we do as we wait?
Chardin encourages us to trust. Trust that God is working and it may be or seem slow to us. We know God has a plan, so we must trust that God will bring his plan to fruition.
What else shall we do while we wait? I suggest we pray! As we wait for our new ministries to unfold, as we embrace the slow work of healing and reconciliation or as we wait for the Lord’s choice for us in a new Rector; let us take this appointed time to pray.
Pray about what the Lord has for you to do next. Pray for both your mission and Truro’s mission in the community and the world. Pray for our hearts to be healed and that each of us can go and be reconciled one to another. Pray for our new Rector. While we don’t know who that person is, we are waiting. God knows and is right now preparing their heart to come to Truro.
We don’t know what tomorrow will bring, so pray today! Trust that while we think God is moving slowly, God is moving and putting everything in order for our good.
Many blessings,
Sue+
