Friday, July 23

Dear Truro Family,

This coming Sunday, July 25, we conclude our sermon series on the book of Ephesians. What an encouraging letter this has been for us during this season. If you missed any of the previous sermons, you can go back and listen to them on our website or watch them on our YouTube channel

Next Sunday, August 1, Bishop Guernsey will be with us (and preaching) at our morning services. And, Lord willing, he’ll be ordaining Jamie Brown to the priesthood that afternoon at 4:00pm.

During the month of August, we’ll be returning to the lectionary readings for our morning services. If you’re new to Anglicanism, the “lectionary” is the church’s calendar of Scripture readings. We use our denomination’s lectionary, and you can find those readings here.

Beginning in September, and lasting until Advent, we will begin a new series on 1, 2, and 3 John. We’re eager to hear what the Lord wants to say to our church through those letters.

We truly believe that the Word of God is the “sword of the Spirit” (Ephesians 6:17), that it is “living and active” (Hebrews 4:12), and that it is “a lamp to (our) feet and a light to (our) path” (Psalm 119:105). The old hymn says it well:

How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord,

Is laid for your faith in His excellent Word?
What more can He say than to you He hath said?

To you who for refuge to Jesus hath fled.

As we continue to walk forward as a congregation during difficult times, pray with us that the power of God’s authoritative Word would be evident in our services and in our lives, and that we would flee to Jesus, finding refuge in him, and in the Living Word.
