Clergy Notes – August 2nd, 2024

Dear Truro Family,

As we savor the last sizzling days of summer and look ahead to the activities, classes, and events of the fall, I invite you to pause. Really. Sometime between now and Labor Day, schedule 20 minutes apart from your normal routine to pause.

Schedule it like any other call or meeting. Pick a quiet place and time where you can be still and uninterrupted. In your favorite chair before sunrise. On a well-worn bench of an empty chapel. In the quiet corner of a beautiful garden. On the distant shore of a lake or river. On the deck late one night staring up at the stars.

And invite the Lord to join you. You do not need to plan, do, or say anything. Just be still. Take a deep breath. Let your body and soul uncoil. Let your mind, just for a moment, let go of the next thing to do. Simply be present, and allow him to reveal himself to you in any number of ways. A memory from this summer. A song. A verse. A word.

And whisper your thanks for his beauty, faithfulness, goodness, and love both now and forever.
