Dear Truro Family,
Many of you will have seen the vestry’s most recent update. If not, you can read it here.
We know this is a hard season. It’s a hard season for us, too. After all, waiting is rarely easy. Would you join us in praying for the light and love of Christ for this situation and for our church?
It is so easy for us, regardless of situation, to look for hope or life, love or comfort, outside of Jesus. It was John Calvin who said, “the human heart is an idol factory,” and that rings true to our experience. We remain committed, both in this season and beyond, to make much of no person, ideology, or thing other than Jesus. He is the author of our faith, our anchor and shield, the One who was and is and is to come. He remains our only hope in life and death, and the only one worthy of our praise.
Ephesians reminded us of that this past week, that Jesus ought to be the center. For the Christian—for the church—all relationships ought to be formed and shaped by the cross. The cross must be the shape of our life together, even as Jesus must be the center (the only center!) of our life and worship together.
And so let us fix our eyes on Jesus, and Jesus alone, as we continue to grow up in Christ, together.
