Clergy Notes – September 27th, 2024

Dear Truro family,

Just over a year ago, we sent about 70 members off to launch Trinity Burke. Since that time, at least 100 new folks have joined the Truro family. This means that on an average Sunday morning right now, about 1/4 of our people are new. Wow!

This is why we’re continuing to emphasize simple steps towards community, even before someone might consider joining a community group. Opportunities like weekly coffee and connections after the 10:00am service, monthly community night dinners, regular men’s breakfasts and women’s brunches/gatherings, etc., are simply venues for you to get to know one another, and to be known. I encourage you this Sunday, and in the weeks ahead: 1. Stop and look around. 2. Find someone you don’t recognize. 3. Ask them their name, and even for some of their story. 4. See how the Holy Spirit begins to build connections. If we all do this, it will go a long way towards helping this big church feel small.

Your brother,
Jamie

P.S. New(er) to Truro? Please join Catherine and me for lunch this Sunday after the 10:00am service. We’ll meet at 12:00pm in Common Grounds.. We try to keep the lunch to one hour. Children welcome! RSVP here.
