Dear Truro family,
It’s been a privilege to take some extended time this week to pray for you, and for the many prayer requests that you shared with me. Thank you for the gift of this time away. You are precious brothers and sisters in the Lord, carrying so many burdens and concerns in your hearts. My overarching prayer is that you would sense the Good Shepherd at your side, leading you and accompanying you with every step. It will be good to see you all this Sunday.
Speaking of this Sunday: our guest preacher will be the Rev. Dr. John Yates II. John is the former rector of The Falls Church Anglican, having served that congregation for 40 years before his retirement in 2019. Besides being my boss for ten years early in my ministry, John is a friend and mentor to me, and I’m glad you’ll get to meet him and hear from him.
Rain or shine, let’s come ready to do what Paul urges in Colossians 3:16: “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.”
Jamie
P.S. Next Sunday, October 18, we’ll resume our slow walk with Jesus in the Gospel According to John. For the remainder of the fall we’ll be going verse-by-verse through Jesus’ high priestly prayer in John 17.
