Clergy Notes – October 14th, 2022

Dear Truro family,

Tomorrow, October 15, 2022, our diocese will elect its next bishop. All of the clergy of the diocese, as well as lay delegates from every church, will meet to prayerfully discern the man whom God has chosen to lead us. Please be praying!

The candidates are:

· The Rev. David M. Hanke, Rector, Restoration Anglican Church, Arlington, Virginia

· The Rev. Patrick A. Ware, Rector, Grace Anglican Church, Winchester, Virginia

· The Rev. Christopher S. Warner, Rector, Church of the Holy Cross, Sullivan’s Island and Daniel Island, South Carolina

After an opening communion service, we will vote on the first ballot. A candidate must receive a majority of votes from the clergy and the lay delegates on the same ballot in order to be elected. This could happen on the first ballot. Or we may need to vote on additional ballots to achieve consensus.

If you’d like to find out more about these candidates, our diocese has done a wonderful job presenting them in their own words HERE. In the side menu, you may wish to click “walkabouts” where you can watch question/answer sessions with each of the candidates.

Thank you for praying as we meet to vote tomorrow. And please be praying for these candidates and their families, that God would give them all his peace, and that he would fill our next bishop with his Holy Spirit as he steps into this new role in mid-February 2023.

Your brother,

Jamie
