Dear Truro family,
This Sunday, we welcome Bishop Chris Warner to Truro. At each service, in addition to preaching and celebrating communion, he’ll pray over members of our church: some who are making an adult profession of faith (i.e. confirmation), others who are being received into the Anglican Church, and others who are reaffirming their faith. During that time, the Bishop lays hands on each member and prays over them. First, a prayer out of our Book of Common Prayer, and second, a prayer as directed by the Holy Spirit. This is always a beautiful and moving time of prophetic ministry.
Bishop Warner was the rector of the Church of the Holy Cross, Sullivan’s Island and Daniel Island from 2015-2022 and served as Associate Rector from 2002 to 2007 and from 2011 to 2015. Between his two terms of service at Holy Cross, he also served as rector and director of St. Christopher Camp and Conference Center. He and his wife, Catherine (who serves as a deacon many Sundays here at Truro!), have been married since 1993. They have three children. Bishop Warner was elected to be the second Bishop of the Diocese of the Mid-Atlantic of the Anglican Church in North America on October 15, 2022. He was invested by Archbishop Foley Beach on February 18, 2023.
Welcome, Bishop Warner!
