Clergy Notes – March 14th, 2025

Dear Truro family,

It’s impossible to ignore the high level of uncertainty, anxiety, and change that our country and our region are experiencing right now. Even if you never watch, read, or listen to the news (and God bless you if that’s you!), this current climate of upheaval is often on the top of many people’s minds. I know from conversations with many of you that you are either directly, indirectly, or quite possibly soon-to-be impacted by all of this. So how is a Christian supposed to live in this kind of environment?

Fundamentally, no matter what, and no matter when the rug of earthly security might ever be pulled out from underneath us: we are to live as sons and daughters of God. Secure as heirs of all his promises in Christ. Sure that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Settled in our souls that we are citizens of a heavenly kingdom. Fixing our eyes every moment on Jesus the Supreme King over all things big and small. We can’t bury our heads in the sand, as tempting as that may sound. But we shouldn’t bury our heads in the news either. Let’s do what God’s people have always done: hide ourselves in the rock of ages, cleft for us.

Your brother,
Jamie

P.S. If there’s ever anything at all that the clergy can do to support or pray for you, please remember that you can reach all of us at one time by emailing clergy@truroanglican.com. It’s a privilege to know you and care for you.
