Dear Truro family,
Today our nation observes Juneteenth, remembering the day in 1865 when the enslaved people of Texas heard the long-delayed news of their emancipation. We praise God that he sets captives free! May he give his people – and this church – a passion to see his freedom continue to spread around the earth.
I’d like to share four quick updates with you:
- Chris Hammond has officially begun his ministry with us here at Truro as a full-time Pastoral Associate. If you missed this announcement a few weeks ago, you can read about Chris (and his new role) here. I’m looking forward to you all getting to know Chris better in the months and years to come.
- Our Vacation Bible School kicks off this coming Monday, June 22, and lasts all week. I’m grateful for all the people who have stepped forward to help and serve as volunteers, and for the hard work of our staff who have been planning for this event for many months. For all the info about VBS, click here. Please be praying for this important week in the life of all the kids who are coming.
- It’s becoming a bit more common on Sunday mornings for our parking lot to fill up before our 10:00am service. For those of you who are comfortable with a bit of a longer walk, remember that there’s an empty lot, directly across North Street from Truro, and it’s free on Sundays. The address (for your GPS) is 10450 Main St, Fairfax, VA 22030.
- In the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing a midyear financial update with you all, as well as a way for you to access your midyear contribution statements. I thank God for the wonderfully sacrificial and generous giving of this congregation. If you need to catch up on your giving – or step into this Christian practice – the easiest way is to visit our giving page here.
Your brother,
Jamie
