Dear Truro Family,
Let me share a few brief updates with you, now that we’re approaching the end of the month (already!)
August events
Take a look at our events in August, and see the various ways you can get plugged in. If you have questions, you can reach out to our wonderful Staff and Clergy.
Backpack drive
This Sunday is the deadline to drop off backpacks for local students who can’t afford them. All the details can be found further down in the Truro News.
Our search for a new Associate Rector
We’ve begun searching for a full-time Associate Rector. The position description can be found HERE. Pray that God will lead us to the right person for this important role!
Our search for a new Director of Family Ministries
We’re getting close to being able to make an announcement about this. Thank you for your continued prayers!
What’s happening in our neighborhood
Two months ago, I shared with you the prospect of a new development across the street. You can read about it (and see pictures) HERE. Two weeks ago, Fairfax City Council approved this project. Groundbreaking is expected in March 2024.
A new Sunday school class this fall
Starting September 10, we’ll be offering a ten-week Sunday school class at 9 AM, called “Prayers of the Bible from the Old Testament,” taught by the Rev. Tim Howe. Along with his wife Kim, Tim is a member of Truro, and serves on staff at the Diocese of the Mid-Atlantic. Nursery will be provided during the 9 AM hour, and possibly children’s ministry as well. Parents, if you’re interested in that, please indicate your interest HERE.
Your amazing generosity
Truro, I’m grateful for how you’ve given so generously, not only in support of the ongoing ministry and mission of this church, but also of our church plant (Trinity Burke). Every gift and contribution, big and small, has truly added up, and I’m thrilled that we can send off Trinity Burke not just by “releasing” them – but even better – by sending them. I praise God for you all.
Your brother,
Jamie
