Clergy Notes – January 20th, 2023

Dear Truro Family,

I’m delighted to share the exciting news that the Rev. Abigail Whitehouse will be joining our clergy team here at Truro beginning February 1. Many of you have already had the opportunity to meet Abigail, as she and her family have been joining us for worship over the last several months. I’m excited for the whole congregation to get to know the Whitehouse family in the months and years to come.

Abigail will be a member of the clergy team and the leadership team of the church, and she’ll be assisting with pastoral care, helping lead our services on Sunday, and overseeing our prayer ministry and community groups. This is a part-time role, so the whole congregation will be her “assistants”! I know that she’ll be grateful for your prayers, encouragement, and support as she begins her ministry here.

Abigail was born and raised in Pittsburgh. Raised in a Christian family, Abigail went on to study at the University of Virginia, earning her B.A in History. Upon graduation, she participated in the Trinity Fellows Program in Charlottesville, and then moved to Northern Virginia to work for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Washington D.C. After earning her Master of Divinity from Duke Divinity School in 2016, and while serving at Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Raleigh, Abigail was ordained a deacon in the Diocese of the Carolinas in 2017, and a priest in 2020. Abigail most recently served on the clergy team at Incarnation Anglican Church in Williamsburg. Abigail and her husband John were married in 2017, and they have two children, Nathaniel and Aurora.

Welcome, Whitehouse family!

Jamie
