Clergy Notes – February 21st, 2025

Dear Truro family,

A week and a half from now, the season of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, March 5. We’ll offer two services that day in the sanctuary at 12:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M. When we come to days like this (or like Maundy Thursday or Good Friday in April), I encourage you to make corporate worship one of your highest priorities. It’s tempting to go about our days and weeks marking time by what we’re doing. The Church year, and its intentional rhythms (with days like Ash Wednesday and seasons like Lent), invite us to mark time differently: By what Jesus has done!

On the topic of Lent, we’re excited to have weekly community nights as a church again, beginning with pancakes on Tuesday, March 4 (between 5:30 P.M. and 7:00 P.M.). The following Tuesday (March 11), we’ll have our third annual staff-versus-vestry chili cookoff. Afterwards, we’ll kick off a six-week series called Leaning Into Lent: Practical Discipleship. This brief time of worship, teaching, and prayer in the sanctuary from 7:00 P.M. – 7:40 P.M. (or so) will focus on practical ways we can respond more and more to the gracious initiative of God in our lives to walk more closely with Jesus.

See you this Sunday!
Jamie
