Clergy Notes – August 7th, 2026

Dear Truro family,

Over the last two weeks, I’ve shared ways you can get involved in serving our youngest members and our international students. Today I’d like to highlight volunteer opportunities with hospitality and with operations.

Hospitality (email Autumn Frivold)

  • Sunday Hospitality Team: Help prepare food and drinks for or after church fellowship time. For a friendly person who enjoys meeting and feeding people. Volunteers serve before and after church on Sundays when they are available.
  • Tuesday Community Dinner Team: Prepare & clean up from our monthly community dinners. For friendly people who enjoy food prep, working as a team, and socializing! Volunteers sign up for 2-hour slots once a month.
  • Special Events Hospitality Team: Help before, during, and after special events at Truro. For someone with occasional availability to help with decor, food service, greeting, and directing guests to Truro’s campus. Volunteers serve as available when special events happen.
  • Special Event Flower Arranging: Help arrange flowers and plants for special events. For someone who enjoys working with plants or has an eye for beauty. Volunteers serve when available on the days leading up to special events.

Operations (email Daria Brown):

  • Safety Team Member: Help maintain safety standards and respond in emergency situations. For someone who is attentive, calm in emergencies, and wants to help ensure a safe environment for our church community. Volunteers typically serve during one Sunday service per month.
  • Garden Team Member: Help care for and maintain the gardens on the Truro campus. For someone who loves to get in the weeds and wants to learn more about native plants and gardening. Volunteers serve as they are able, with flexible opportunities throughout the year.
  • Diocese of the Mid-Atlantic Synod Volunteer: Help us host clergy and delegates. Many hands are needed for this one-time, multi-day event. This is a great role for someone who enjoys hospitality, event logistics, or helping large gatherings run smoothly.

Your brother,
Jamie
