Clergy Notes – August 14th, 2026

Dear Truro family,

Over the last three weeks, I’ve shared ways you can get involved in serving our youngest members, our international students, and with hospitality and operations. Today I’d like to highlight opportunities to support our Sunday services, music, and production.

Sunday services (email Molly Andreson):

  • Usher: Help people find seats, assist with the offering, and guide communion dismissals. For someone who enjoys welcoming people and helping create an orderly and hospitable worship environment. Ushers typically serve one to two times per month.
  • Altar Guild: Prepare and maintain the sanctuary and chapel, including the holy table and sacred vessels used during worship and Holy Communion. For someone who appreciates the beauty and reverence of worship, enjoys learning about the history and traditions of our church, and enjoys careful, behind-the-scenes service. Volunteers typically serve one to two times per month.
  • Acolyte: Assist the clergy in leading the congregation in public worship, particularly in processions, altar assistance, and gospel processions. A wonderful opportunity for young people (6th grade and up) who want to help lead the congregation in our “worship without words.” Volunteers serve in teams, generally once a month.

Music and production (email Ryan Shelton):

  • Projectionist: Run slides during worship services. For someone who enjoys helping things run smoothly behind the scenes. Volunteers typically serve once every 1–2 months.
  • Choir: Sing with the choir in worship services. Do you love singing and worshiping through music with others? Choir members rehearse on Thursday evenings between September and early June.
  • Worship Team: Sing or play an instrument as part of the worship team (audition required). Are you an experienced musician who feels called to lead others in worship? Scheduling varies depending on the team rotation and service needs.
  • Live Streamer: Operate cameras to broadcast services live. For someone interested in video, media production, or extending our worship to those joining online. Volunteers typically serve once every one to two months.

“Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together!” (Psalm 34:3)
