Dear Truro family,
I wanted to let you know about three upcoming opportunities to take the next step towards membership here at Truro and in the Body of Christ.
First, our membership lunch is Sunday, May 17 from 12:00pm – 2:15pm. This course introduces you to our foundational pillars and beliefs, giving you an opportunity to hear from various leaders about who we are and what we’re about. For all who would like to make their membership at Truro official, and/or be confirmed or received into the Anglican Church when the bishop visits in June. Childcare provided. Register here.
Second, our confirmation mini-retreat is Saturday, May 23 from 9:00am – 12:00pm. This retreat is encouraged (but optional) for anyone who would like to take a public and personal step forward as a Christian, and receive prayer with the laying on of hands by the bishop for one of the following expressions of faith:
- Confirmation. For those who were baptized as children and who desire to now make a public profession of adult belief, receiving a prayer for the infilling of the Holy Spirit.
- Reception. For those who have made adult professions of faith (and have been baptized) in other denominations, and who wish to be received into the Anglican Church
- Reaffirmation. For those who were confirmed and baptized, either in the Anglican Church or another denomination, and have experienced a renewal of faith after a period of lapsing or a major life transition.
For a schedule of this mini-retreat and/or to register, click here.
Third, Bishop Chris Warner will be with us the first weekend of June.
- On Saturday, June 6, we’ll have a special confirmation worship service at 5:00pm. A reception will follow to celebrate those having been confirmed, received, or reaffirming their faith.
- On Sunday, June 7, the bishop will preach and celebrate communion at both morning services.
If you have questions about any of this, email the clergy and one of us will get back to you soon.
See you Sunday,
Jamie
