Clergy Notes – April 15, 2022

Dear Friends,

This Sunday we celebrate the earth-shaking, chain-breaking, incomprehensibly good news that Jesus is alive! He is risen, just as he said. We do hope you’ll be joining us for worship, and that you’ll consider bringing a friend with you.

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the bedrock of our faith. Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 15:17 that “…if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain.” Just as sure as the sun will rise every morning, we are sure that Jesus is risen, reigning, and one day returning. This is such good news!

The Easter hymn “The Strife is O’er” puts it this way:

He closed the yawning gates of hell
The bars from heaven’s high portals fell
Let hymns of praise his triumphs tell!
        Allelu….

We’ll save that last word for Sunday!

Your brother,
Jamie
