Clergy Notes – April 14th, 2023

Dear Truro Family,

I’d like to make sure you’re all aware of the spring term discipleship classes that begin this Sunday, April 16 (with one course happening on Tuesday nights). In case you’ve missed the listing in previous editions of the Truro News, here’s what coming up:

Sundays @ 9 AM

  • Foundations (Intro to Life @ Truro): This introductory course taught by Jamie Brown is for all new members at Truro (or those who would like to be a member) and is required for anyone seeking to be confirmed. In this course, we will consider the fundamental pillars of our life together as a church, and for our own lives in Christ. (Common Grounds)
  • Anglican Essentials Part 2: Taught by Dr. Paul Julienne, this series of five classes builds upon a prior Anglican Essentials Course and is designed to help you go deeper in understanding how “all things hold together in Christ” within an Anglican perspective, thereby enabling you to be a more informed follower of Christ today. Anglicanism is firmly rooted in the creeds and doctrines established in the early centuries after Jesus. We will look at some contemporary Anglican voices to help us to see the hand of God in all things. (Reception Office)
  • Across the Street, Around the World: Led by Alan MacDonald, this class will help us gain a better understanding of God’s missionary heart for all peoples and explore ways you can be involved in reaching the neighborhood and nations. (Room 10)

Tuesdays @ 7:30 PM

  • Listening for Heaven’s Sake: In this ten-week class, Eric Jensen will share biblical insight, practical exercises, humorous skits, and hands-on coaching to begin to recognize and break eight bad habits that contribute to unhealthy communications. Listening teaches what it means to show warmth, empathy and respect. Learn essential skills every Christ-follower needs to be truly effective in everyday life and in the most demanding of ministries. (Common Grounds) REGISTER HERE.

(Childcare for the Adult Ed classes at 9 AM will be available on the playground. Check in at the playground picnic table. In case of inclement weather check in at the family ministry tent next to the ramp.)

In the months and years to come, we hope to continue to expand the number and kinds of classes we offer, all for the purpose of helping us become like trees “planted by streams of water” (Psalm 1:3). May these spring classes be just another step in that direction!

Your brother,

Jamie
