Dear Truro family,
A little over two months from now, November 12–14, it will be our privilege to host the annual gathering of all the clergy and lay delegates from our diocese here at Truro. This gathering is called “Synod”, from the Greek word for assembly or meeting.
Thursday night through Friday morning is a gathering of clergy only, and delegates begin arriving around lunchtime on Friday. Friday evening at 7:00pm is a communion service, with ordinations as well. Saturday morning begins with a time of ministry updates, followed by the business meeting of the diocese. Everything from Friday afternoon through Saturday morning is open to anyone who’d like to attend, though only delegates vote at the business meeting.
If you’d just like to attend Synod, you can register here. But if you’re part of the Truro family and would be open to volunteering in some way, let us know by emailing Daria Brown, Director of Operations, at [email protected]. She’ll find a place to put you to work!
Jamie
P.S. Our newcomers lunch is this Sunday, September 13 at 12:00pm in Common Grounds. If you’re new to Truro, we’d love to have you join us for a relaxed lunch together so we can get to know you better. It’s a low-key way to ask questions, hear more about who we are, and start putting names to faces. No pressure to know anyone or anything going in. Just come as you are. Lunch is on us. RSVP here.
