Clergy Notes – January 30th, 2026

Dear Truro family,

It’s been a cold week here in Northern Virginia, as we’ve been digging out of the snow and ice. I hope that in the midst of the shoveling and scraping (and kids at home!), you’ve been able to find moments of rest.

This weekend we get back to “normal” as a church, and you can read below about upcoming events and ways to get involved. Looking further into February, I want to highlight four additional things:

  • Our annual “shrove Tuesday” pancake dinner. February 17 from 5:30 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. in the undercroft. This event is always a lot of fun (and carbs)!
  • Ash Wednesday services. February 18 at 12:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M. in the sanctuary. This day invites us into the season of Lent by reminding us of our mortality and recentering us on the person of Jesus.
  • Weekly community night dinners every Tuesday in Lent (same time and place as the pancake dinner).
  • Followed by our “Leaning Into Lent” teaching series in the sanctuary from 7:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M.. This year’s theme is “Giving God Our Baggage”. We’ll be considering what burdens we may be carrying on our own, and how God can bring healing and redemption into those hard places.

See you this Sunday,

Jamie
