A note from Steve Cannizzaro
Dear Friends:
In my message last week, I described my hope for you to connect, grow, and serve at Truro. To connect, grow, and serve is an abbreviated way of saying, “Live as a disciple of Jesus!” In his article, “Discipleship for Changing Times,” Michael J. Wilkins writes . . .
“Discipleship means living a fully human life in this world in union with Jesus Christ, growing in conformity to his image as the Spirit transforms us from the inside-out, being nurtured within a community of disciples who are engaged in that lifelong process, and helping others to know and become like Jesus. Discipleship originates with a gracious call from Jesus to enter into an intimate relationship with him.”
This is the life to which Jesus has called us individually and corporately! A life of oneness in him (John 15:4-5). A life being formed into his likeness (2 Corinthians 3:18). A life with a vision and passion for the kingdom (Matthew 6:33). A life of love, service, and worship (Matthew 25:37-40, Romans 12:1). A life entrusted with the ministry of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:18)!
And our hope for living this life? Jesus. His grace is sufficient for you and me (2 Corinthians 12:9).
Peace.
Steve
