Clergy Notes – August 16th, 2024

Dear Truro family,

Over the last five months, you have generously supported the vision of renewing the Truro sanctuary, and over the last few weeks, it’s been a thrill to see that vision start to become a reality. Major work began this week on the sanctuary floor. All 88 pews have been unbolted (many of them are now stacked on top of each other), all of the red carpet and old tile has been removed, and new flooring has begun to be laid under the pews. This work will continue into Saturday, and resume next week when, Lord willing, painting will also begin. Because of this, our plans for this coming Sunday, August 18, are as follows:

  • Our 7:45 A.M. service in the chapel will be held as usual. If you’ve never come to this service, it’s about 65 minutes long, has a few of the same songs as the 10:00 A.M. service, and has the same readings and sermon.
  • Our 10:00 A.M. service will be held outdoors! We’ll provide you with a worship guide so you can follow (and sing!) along. Child care in The Nest will be offered as usual. Truro Kids will begin the service with their families and be dismissed before the sermon. We’ll have chairs available for you to use if you’d like, but if you’re able to bring your own chair(s), please do so!
  • In case there are any folks who would rather not worship outside at 10:00 A.M., and would rather not get up early to come at 7:45 A.M., we’ll offer an additional worship service at 5:00 P.M. in the chapel.

On behalf of all the clergy and staff, we are so grateful for your support, prayers, encouragement, and flexibility! I’m looking forward to seeing you this Sunday as we worship God together.

Your brother,
Jamie

PS: What if it rains on Sunday morning? Well, then you’ll be hearing from me again with another update on Saturday night 🙂
