Clergy Notes – May 17th, 2024

Dear Truro family,

This Sunday we celebrate the day of Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit was poured out on Jesus’ disciples, empowering them and equipping them with the very power of God. What happened on that day is described in Acts chapter 2, and is of the utmost relevance for every believer. On Pentecost, God kept the promise spoken through Jesus to give us an advocate to help us and to be with us forever (John 14:16). You aren’t expected to live your life on your own, or in your own strength. Every moment, the Holy Spirit is with you, leading you, empowering you, comforting you, and so much more. The Holy Spirit not only proclaims Christ to you, he’s also the very presence of Christ in you. And he proclaims Christ through you too, wherever you go, even to the ends of the earth. That fire that rested on (and propelled!) those disciples in Acts 2 still rests on and propels us today. This is amazing news worth celebrating!
