Dear Truro family,
Last Sunday we sang these words from the hymn “O Come, O Come Emmanuel”:
O come, desire of nations, bind
In one the hearts of all mankind
Bid thou our sad divisions cease
And be Thyself our King of Peace
All around us are signs of increased polarization and isolation, tensions and wars between nations, and especially as we head into another presidential election cycle, heightened political and cultural division. Will it ever get any better? The answer of Advent is a resounding “yes”. Yes, one day the hearts of all mankind will be bound together. Yes, one day our sad divisions will cease. And yes, one day our King of Peace will return.
Don’t set your hopes on any earthly king to accomplish this. Set your hope this Advent on Emmanuel. One day he will fix everything. Come quickly, Lord Jesus.
