Dear Truro Family,
On Sunday, August 27, at our 10 AM service, we’ll be commissioning the launch team who will be heading out to start Trinity Church in Burke. The time is fast approaching for us to take this step of faith, trusting in the call of God, and saying “yes” to him, even with tears in our eyes.
I know that for many of us, this is a “big gulp” moment. After all of the roller coasters we’ve been on, it’s heartbreaking to say goodbye to the Seawrights and to many of our brothers and sisters whom we love. This heartbreak is a normal thing to experience.
But it’s always right to say “yes” to God, and to what’s best for the Kingdom. And it’s always right to trust the Lord to know how to handle his resources better than we can. This reminds me of tithing. It’s hard to write that check, and to give that money away. But it all came from God. So, it’s all for God.
Sometimes tension is a bad thing. But sometimes tension is a good thing. And this tension of joy and heartbreak is one of those good tensions. It means that we’re a church that has a lot of faith and hope – and also a lot of love. And the greatest of these is love. And because we love these brothers and sisters, it will soon be time to let them go. With tears and with celebration.
