Readers (Lectors) read the Old Testament and Epistle lessons during services. They are all volunteers, trained in the public reading of scripture, who have been appointed without license by the Rector to read the lessons or lead the Prayers of the People. Lectors ordinarily serve as part of this rotational ministry for three years, at which time they are placed on sabbatical and may reapply for appointment after one year. The ministry of the lector is an intensely public one, and it is not for everyone! However, if you are at least 14 years old, baptized, able to clearly, audibly, and publicly read scripture in English or Spanish, and feel called to serve our parish in this important ministry, you should consider becoming a lector. Auditions and training will be held in May of each year.
