Truro clergy always preside at Truro weddings. You may request a specific Truro clergy to preside at your wedding. Every effort will be made to honor your request contingent upon their availability.
Planning the Music for Your Wedding
All music at Truro weddings shall reflect the nature of a worship service. The congregation will be encouraged to participate, since we wish to emphasize the centrality of the Lord in your lives as you begin a lifelong commitment to one another and to the Lord in the presence of God, family and friends. For this reason, we do require at least one congregational song or hymn in the marriage service. Final musical selections are subject to the approval of the music director and clergy.
Non- Truro weddings are not required to have a congregational worship song, but their final music selections must be approved by the Director of Worship & Arts at Truro Anglican Church at least 2 weeks in advance of the wedding.
The Truro Worship Department retains several excellent organists/pianists available for your wedding. We expect that the services of one of these persons will be utilized. Once your wedding has been approved, a musician will be assigned or you may request a specific Truro staff musician to play for your wedding, understanding that their availability may vary.
The Truro musician will serve as the musical coordinator, and will assist you in selecting the music for your wedding. You should schedule a meeting at least one month prior to your wedding with your musician to discuss music selections.
The Truro Worship department maintains an extensive list of professional musicians and soloists throughout the Washington DC area. We would be happy to book your preferred instrument or singer. The rates for these musicians vary.
If you wish to request a non-Truro musician, we require a resume of the musician. A resume and/or audio sample may be requested. The Truro Director of Worship and Arts has final authority on approval of any outside musician used in a wedding at Truro Anglican Church.
If you do not wish to use organ or piano at your wedding and are planning to book a string quartet, brass quartet or some other ensemble, special arrangements can be made through the Director of Worship + Arts. A special “planning fee” will apply.
