What is a Cottage Meeting?
A Cottage Meeting is a time for our community groups (and later our congregation) to discuss Truro’s past, present, and future with Mary Hays, Tim, and other members of the Recovery and Transition Team. These meetings provide opportunities for us to listen to one another about our personal experiences with Truro, past and present, and to listen to the Holy Spirit during a time of silent prayer about Truro’s future. No one is required to share, but everyone is given the opportunity to do so.

The meetings we have held so far have been healing and encouraging, as participants have had the opportunity to share their stories of coming to Truro, their journey through the changes of Tory’s departure and the pandemic, and what they hear from the Holy Spirit as we ask God together to give us insight into where he is leading us as a church. It has been exciting to see themes about Truro’s future begin to emerge as we have sought God’s leading together.

What happens during a Cottage Meeting?
Cottage Meetings are a group discussion where everyone has the opportunity to listen and share.  Participants are given the opportunity to:

  • share their personal history with Truro, including what epitomizes the church to them
  • name their place in our church transition’s healing process and share their experiences during the changes of this past year
  • join the group in silent prayer and then share their sense from the Spirit about where God may be leading Truro in the future.

How do I participate?
If you’re in a community group, ask your leader whether your group is going to host a cottage meeting. If you’re not in a group or if your group isn’t hosting a cottage meeting you can sign up for one of the open groups.

The information gathered from these meetings will be shared with the congregation sometime in November.

You can choose from one of the following dates and times for an open group. Registration for these Zoom meetings will be available next week
